No.32 ”[Amida’s Original Prayer] is entirely meant for me, Shinran alone”

Shinran Shonin used to say, “[Amida’s Original Prayer] is entirely meant for me, Shinran alone.”
This saying reminds me of the way Shinran Shonin, who lived and taught for twenty years in the bleak and desolate Eastern District, would always be thinking how best to help people around him, afflicted by natural disasters and dire poverty, to recover from their wretched condition.

親鸞聖人は「親鸞一人がためなりけり」と常に仰せられていた。
荒蕪の東国に二十年居住し、布教された聖人が、災害、貧困など困窮を縁として、萎えている衆生の自己回復に心を砕かれていたことが偲ばれる。
